Oil liquefaction, also called
earthquake liquefaction, ground failure or loss of strength that causes
otherwise solid soil to behave temporarily as a viscous liquid. The phenomenon
occurs in water-saturated unconsolidated soils affected by seismic S waves
(secondary waves), which cause ground vibrations during earthquakes.
Although earthquake shock is
the best known cause of liquefaction, certain construction practices, including
blasting and soil compaction and vibro flotation (which uses a vibrating probe
to change the grain structure of the surrounding soil), produce this phenomenon
intentionally. Poorly drained fine-grained soils such as sandy, silty, and
gravelly soils are the most susceptible to liquefaction.
Granular soils are made up of a
mix of soil and pore spaces. When earthquake shock occurs in waterlogged soils,
the water-filled pore spaces collapse, which decreases the overall volume of
the soil. This process increases the water pressure between individual soil
grains, and the grains can then move freely in the watery matrix. This
substantially lowers the soil’s resistance to shear stress and causes the mass
of soil to take on the characteristics of a liquid. In its liquefied state,
soil deforms easily, and heavy objects such as structures can be damaged from
the sudden loss of support from below.

Bees are flying insects closely related to wasps and ants,
producing honey and beeswax. Bees are a monophyletic lineage within the
superfamily Apoidea and are presently considered a clade, called Anthophila.
There are about 20,000 different species of bees in the world.
Bees live in colonies that contain the queen bee, the worker bee
and the drone. The worker bee and the queen bee are both female, but only the
queen bee can reproduce. All drones are male. Worker bees clean the hive,
collecting pollen and nectar to feed the colony and they take care of the
offspring. The drone’s only job is to mate with the queen. The queen’s only job
is to lay eggs.
Bees store their venom in a sac attached to their stinger and only
female bees sting. That is because the stinger, called an ovipositor, is part
of the female bee’s reproductive design. A queen bee uses her ovipositor to lay
eggs as well as sting. Sterile females, also called worker bees, don’t lay
eggs. They just use their ovipositors to sting. The relationship between the
plant and the insect is called symbiosis.

We visited London for vacation. We were able to turn this
into a longer trip and adventure around the city. This impressive city was
filled with many interesting sights. One of the most impressive places to visit
was the Winston Churchill museum. The museum accounted his entire life and was
actually situated in the bunker he lived in during the blitz. I felt a certain
kinship with Churchill, as he felt a calling to do something great.
With exception of the Indian restaurants, the food was

Once upon a time, there was a flock of doves
that flew in search of food led by their king. They had flown a long distance
and were very tired. The smallest dove picked up speed and found some rice
scattered beneath a banyan tree. So all the doves landed and began to eat.
Suddenly a net fell over them and they were
all trapped. They saw a hunter approaching carrying. The doves desperately
fluttered their wings trying to get out, but to no avail. The king had an idea.
He advised all the doves to fly up together carrying the net with them.
Each dove picked up a portion of the net and
together they flew off carrying the net with them. The hunter looked up in
astonishment. He tried to follow them, but they were flying high over hills and
valleys. They flew to a hill near a city of temples where there lived a mouse
who could help them. He was a faithful friend of the dove king.
The mouse agreed saying that he would set the
king free first. The king insisted that he first free his subjects and the king
last. The mouse understood the king’s feelings and complied with his wishes. He
began to cut the net and one by one all the doves were freed including the dove
king.

A tropical cyclone is a rapidly rotating storm system
characterized by a low-pressure center, a closed low-level atmospheric
circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that
produce heavy rain. "Cyclone" refers to their winds moving in a
circle. Tropical cyclones are typically between 100 and 2,000 km (62 and 1,243
miles) in diameter.
Coastal regions are particularly vulnerable to the impact of a
tropical cyclone, compared to inland regions. The primary energy source for
these storms is warm ocean waters, therefore these forms are typically
strongest when over or near water, and weaken quite rapidly over land. Coastal
damage may be caused by strong winds and rain, high waves (due to winds), storm
surges (due to wind and severe pressure changes), and the potential of spawning
tornadoes.
Though their effects on human populations are often devastating,
tropical cyclones can relieve drought conditions. They also carry heat energy
away from the tropics and transport it toward temperate latitudes, which may
play an important role in modulating regional and global climate.

The herons are the long-legged freshwater and
coastal birds in the family Ardeidae, with 64 recognized species. The herons are medium to large-sized birds with long
legs and necks. The smallest species is usually considered the little bittern,
which can measure under 30 cm in length. The largest species of heron is the
goliath heron, which stands up to 152 cm tall. The necks are able to kink in an S-shape, due to the
modified shape of the cervical vertebrae. The neck is able to retract and extend,
and is retracted during flight, unlike most other long-necked birds. The legs
are long and strong. In flight, the legs and feet are held backward. The bill is generally long and harpoon-like. The bill, as well as
other bare parts of the body, is usually yellow, black, or brown in colour.
The wings are broad and long. The feathers of the herons are soft and the
plumage is usually blue, black, brown, grey, or white, and can often be
strikingly complex. |

I
spent my last holiday time visiting my uncle’s home at Malang. I stayed there
for 5 days and during that day I visited some tourism places. The most favorite
place for me was Jatim Park two. I loved it because I am an animal lover. It took 20 minutes from my uncle’s home by
riding motor cycle.
We
bought the ticket to enjoy the whole part of the park, including animal museum,
secret zoo and eco green. At first I entered the eco green park because this
area is closed at 4 p.m. The next was animal museum which has a huge dinosaur’s
replica and the last was secret zoo, the most pleasurable place for me. Unfortunately, the time was over before I
could see the whole part of secret zoo.
Therefore,
the next day I went there again for one area only, that was the secret zoo. I
could enjoy any kinds of animals around the world which I never seen some of
them before. It was a very nice school
holiday that I spent at Malang and Batu city
